I want to write something eloquent but I'll get there. . . .
So, as you all know I love trying new things.
My new roommate "Skillz", who is truly an instant LOVE, noticed my tofu and vegetarian meal making.
It's true, I wouldn't want to LABEL myself anything other than CHRIST'S, so I steer away from "vegetarian girl" ect.
This year it's a goal to "cook more from the heart" and with more colors (cullinary skills that are more art-ful).
I also want to shop at more farmer's markets, health food stores, and even ethnic stores.
Recipes, send me recipes.
I'm going through book, magazines, emails, all of it- I'm adding more to my resume. :-)
So, how did I end up as a budding vegan this week?
"SKILLZ" and I got to talking and she suggested I borrow her book
"This Crazy Vegan Life";
BAM!
I'm hooked!
I'm learning a lot:
1) Who are vegans? I'm not going to turn in to or want to be a "stop the genecide of animals" marcher will I? NO.

Today's first move----
Daikon Tea.
Located an Asian market off Baxter St. I did not know existed. Excellent find.
Found all the ingredients at a low price. Even more excellent.
Followed the recipe successfully:
[edit: I am not sure what the plagarizing issue is on these things, so I'm not going to share the recipe until someone tells me it's okay. ha]
Interesting Chinese detox remedy.
The scent destroyed our apartment. This could be a problem.
OUST and candles have helped detox the smell, ha.
The taste... I could handle it. I eat fresh vegetables often and don't need seasoning on them to enjoy them. I will admit, even for a "rabbit" like me, the flavor is very BOLD.
And in my other roommate's, "Wifey", words- "It looks like a fish tank and smells like one too."
I've never actually eaten from a fish tank, so I don't know if it tasted like one. I got through the cup fine though and am now waiting for results. ;-)
The remedy was on point thus far-
It curved my late night appetite, actually did make me sweat from eating the veggies and drinking the broth, and has made my stomach digest earlier than I expected....
True, it could be a placebo effect, HOWEVER... I'm hoping it is not and I don't feel like it is.
Tomorrow I'm making the shiittake tea. This tea helps with kidney cleansing. Hmmm....
Breakfast, morning snack, Lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner were not complicated today and very enjoyable. I'm not eating out of a bag of tricks! Other than the tea tonight everything was common grocery found items. This is different though...
24 day experiment is underway: day 1 down.
Day 9 of my shredded workout challenge.
Wow, what a crazy blog right now...
Namiste,
M
